Recommended Reading: 3 Content Lessons from ASAE’s #MMCCon, via @MelEdits

Earlier this year, Jenn Waters, Assistant Publisher, CustomNEWS, presented during ASAE’s Marketing, Membership and Communications Conference on the role that print still has at conferences. (View her case studies here). Shortly after the conference, Melanie Powers shared her top take-aways, 3 Content Lessons from ASAE’s Marketing, Membership and Communications Conference.

Her first take-away related to digital flip books. I agree that they can be a little “wonky,” but for show dailies, it’s a quick way to share each day’s issue with a wide audience through daily emails and social media. We have been working more with clients to move away from flip books and share the content directly on their websites/blogs.

That leads right into her second point – create content hubs. This is something CustomNEWS has been pitching for quite some time – associations want to share content that will make them recognized as a leader in their field. So much content is shared at a conference – make sure you’re capturing it via stories, photos and video packages. Then catalog this content for easy repurposing throughout the year.

Her final take-away was about branding – this is something CustomNEWS has been working on internally. Look for some new marketing materials to be released in a few weeks.
