Plan It, but Will They Come?
The anticipation couldn’t have been higher before the early August Sea-Air-Space convention in National Harbor, Maryland. The host facility – the spacious Gaylord National Harbor – had just reopened the month before. But would people really show up? What with the emergence of the delta variant on the minds of many.
Well, show up they did. In fact, the Navy League of the United States’ signature trade show event drew record numbers, happy exhibitors, and actual real people everywhere in the convention center. Unless you noticed the many masked attendees, you could have sworn it was 2019 all over again.
Navy League and its flagship publication, Seapower, decided to bring the show back in style with a new CustomNEWS-produced live show daily at the event. Published each day of the 10,000-plus attendee meeting, the new Seapower daily leveraged the experience of CustomNEWS’ seasoned editorial and photography professionals, with the industry and event knowledge of the Seapower staff to inject new life into its show daily publication. Photos and stories from each day’s events were featured, and daily videos produced by the CustomNEWS team were posted and viewed on the Seapower home page each morning.
Plans are already underway for an even bigger and better Sea-Air-Space, and Seapower daily, in April 2022.
